Process & Term

Our Process

Out of the Woodwork (OOTW) is Bristol based, and happy to arrange an informal consultation at the workshop or at your premises/home.  This is for you to meet the team, discuss your up and coming projects and talk through the design and build process that will follow.

While our workshop is set up to mainly process wood we have a great working relationships with lots of other craftsmen from steel fabrication, sheet metal workers, lighting designers, stone masons, there isn’t much we can’t design and fabricate.

If you would like to meet with OOTW for a free consultation get in touch with Jess who would love to book you in with either Alex or Louis the head designers and makers at

We aim to respond to all emails within 24 hours, it takes us about week to work up concept ideas and 3D models.  We allow another week to price up a job.

Design Fee

With larger projects we may ask for a design fee after initial ideas have been decided and you are happy to work with us.  This Design fee is to cover your bespoke and tailor made design. This approach is hands on in order to get the exact design and build requirements right for you.  We hope to uniquely design and tailor our build through these design consultations. Whether you want to create something from scratch or are working to architects specifications. We will be with you every step of the way creating and building towards your final concept.

We then put together all these ideas into a final design folder; this will include more accurate pricing, 2d&3d drawings, also including timelines and contractor details. This is yours to keep and we will be on hand to change, adapt and perfect every step of the way.

If you’re then happy to proceed and have OOTW design and make everything, we will remove this fee from your final bill. We very much look forward to being there throughout and maintaining a great working relationship.
